mass effect Control is such a good thematic fit for paragon Shep the Shep who makes compromises left and right for the greater good tries to talk TIM and Saren out of their indoctrination at the 11th hour brokers peace with the geth it’s the ultimate self sacrifice ending trumping even Synthesis Since Shep is shouldering ALL the risk Control also has the coolest future franchise potential imo Synthesis is posited as the utopian pinnacle of evolution of ALL life which doesn’t leave much canonical room for conflict Destroy canonically brings status quo at best and a technology apocalypse at worst control gives you a machine god which is SO COOL What if any of Shep’s humanity is left? is GodShep the ultimate villain? Is Shepard still in there somewhere? Can they be redeemed? You can canonically bring Shep back ala the Watchman HBO series You can have hundreds of Shep clone avatars time loops time travel multiverse You can do whatever you want! Shep is fucking God! canonically! No indoctrination handwaving required (imo a massive cop out) it’s the coolest ending in my book not because it’s a happy/perfect ending but because it’s the only that builds on the existing universe and let’s you ask super interesting questions
